Bobby Deol Drops Bombshell, Discloses Original Script for 'Animal' Had Him 'Kissing' Ranbir Kapoor

Bobby Deol has unveiled surprising insights into the climactic action sequence of his recent film, Animal. The crime thriller culminates in a shirtless confrontation between Bobby's character, Abrar, and Ranbir Kapoor's character, Ranvijay, set against an airstrip backdrop. In a recent interview, Bobby Deol disclosed that the characters share a complex blend of love and animosity, and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga intentionally incorporated creative elements to highlight this intricate dynamic in the movie.

Bobby Deol discloses that his role in 'Animal' initially involved a kiss with Ranbir Kapoor's character

In a recent conversation with The Quint, Bobby Deol revealed that a pivotal scene was omitted from the theatrical release of the film by director Vanga. However, Bobby hinted that this scene might find its way into the extended Netflix version, which is expected to exceed the current 201-minute runtime of the movie. Recounting Vanga's explanation of Abrar's character, Bobby shared, “There are these two brothers, they want to kill each other, but there’s a love that they have for each other. I’m going to shoot the climax sequence with a song playing in the background, which is about love.”

Bobby then disclosed the removal of a kissing moment between the characters, suggesting that it could potentially be reinstated in the uncensored OTT version. He explained, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga suggested, ‘You’re fighting, and you suddenly kiss him (Ranbir Kapoor), and then you don’t give up, and he kills you’. However, the kiss was edited out. I believe it might resurface in the uncut Netflix edition. After all this, he added, ‘You’re mute.’

When questioned about the subtle depiction of affection in the final scene, where Abrar and Ranvijay are portrayed lying closely without clothing, Bobby explained that both families share deep affection, considering themselves one large, interconnected family with love extending to each other's brothers. However, Bobby clarified that the specific moment was conceptualized by Sandeep. During rehearsals for a fight scene, Sandeep proposed, "You know what, Bobby? I want you to punch him and then lie on top of him." The intention behind this suggestion was to emphasize Bobby's character as a forceful and dominant figure.

He further elaborated, saying, “Obviously, the hero always wins in the end. And the shot of me unzipping, it was his idea. He brings that alpha thing to every character.”
