Crew Movie Rating: 4/5
Crew Movie Review: The movie "Crew," starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, breaks stereotypes with its refreshing storyline. Geeta Sethi, played by Tabu, Jasmine Bajwa, portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Divya Rana, depicted by Kriti Sanon, are part of the crew working for Kohinoor Airlines, which mirrors the defunct Kingfisher Airlines. The chairman of Kohinoor Airlines, portrayed by Saswata Chatterjee, is reminiscent of Vijay Mallya. The film's writers, Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri, openly draw parallels by naming their character Vijay Walia, who absconds, declares bankruptcy, leaving numerous employees stranded.
Geeta and her husband Arun Sethi, played by Kapil Sharma, run a cloud kitchen and aspire to open their restaurant in Goa. Jasmine desires luxury possessions and dreams of launching her beauty products company but lacks funds. Divya, nicknamed "Haryana" by the customs officer Jaiveer, is a trained pilot turned air hostess due to job scarcity and student loans.
Their motives align for a gold heist, leading them to a corrupt airline officer who unknowingly aids in laundering wealth abroad. Realizing their complicity, they plan a Mission Impossible-like heist for justice.
Director Rajesh Krishnan crafts a comedy celebrating female empowerment, portraying Geeta, Jasmine, and Divya as multi-dimensional characters facing life's challenges. Their friendship is depicted as supportive and non-judgmental, transcending age barriers. Despite some narrative bumps, the film delivers an enjoyable ride, emphasizing female camaraderie. Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon deliver commendable performances, complementing each other's acting prowess. The male cast, including Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, and Saswata Chatterjee, gracefully support the female leads, contributing to the film's success.
"Crew" offers laughs and a compelling message on female friendships, showcasing the talents of its leading ladies.
