Pre-production for the film is slated to begin next month, with filming scheduled to start in August. Just like the unexpected twists in the first two Don movies, rumors suggest that the upcoming film will also have surprises for the audience.

Details about the female lead in Don 3 are being closely guarded. An official announcement regarding the leading lady is expected before filming begins. Industry sources suggest that discussions are ongoing with Emraan Hashmi for the antagonist role opposite Ranveer Singh; however, no official confirmation has been issued yet.

Farhan Akhtar on parting ways with Shah Rukh Khan for the Don franchise

In a recent Variety interview, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar opened up about the casting shift for the iconic character of Don, transitioning from Shah Rukh Khan to Ranveer Singh. Farhan clarified that creative differences with SRK on the story direction led to their amicable parting.

He explained, "I'm not in the position of replacing anybody. These are things that we discussed over the years; I wanted to take a certain direction with the story, somehow, we just couldn't find common ground. We just parted mutually, knowing that it's probably for the best. So that's where it is."

Explaining why Ranveer is an ideal choice, Farhan emphasized the importance of an actor owning the role with their unique style. He believes Ranveer possesses the required self-confidence, flamboyance, and determination, ensuring a stellar performance.
