Dunki Box Office Buzz: Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's Film Aims for a Whopping Rs 30 Crore Opening Day Collection

Updated: Dec 22, 2023

Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's inaugural project together, "Dunki," has kicked off successfully in the Indian box office. Early indicators suggest an opening day around Rs 30 crore. As of 7 PM, trends and night show bookings project an opening day range of Rs 28.50 to 30.50 crore, with the final figure contingent on the performance of mass belts.

Dunki Sets Sights on Rs 17 Crore Collection Across PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis Theaters

Dunki excels in pivotal markets for Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani, including West Bengal, Mumbai, Delhi, and Punjab, along with strong performances in Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu. Despite a slower turnout in Gujarat, notable for blockbusters like Pathaan and Jawan, the top three chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis – are expected to contribute 55 to 57 percent to the total business, aiming to collect around Rs 17.00 crore on the opening day.

Dunki could potentially exceed the anticipated range, contingent on the strength of its night shows. Presently, the film is hovering around a Rs 30 crore opening, which is commendable. Nevertheless, becoming Rajkumar Hirani's biggest opener would have been the perfect culmination. The movie enjoyed a solo release on December 21 but is set to encounter competition from Salaar starting December 22.

Dunki Positions Itself to Capitalize on the Christmas Season

Tomorrow, Dunki's promotional activities will decrease as Salaar is set to be released, potentially resulting in a slight decline in collections. Nevertheless, the film is expected to regain momentum from Saturday onwards, culminating in a strong weekend total. The initial response is promising for this social drama, and with this positive beginning, the movie is positioned to enter the Christmas holiday period, commencing tomorrow evening. If the audience connects with the content, the film stands to capitalize on the extended Christmas and New Year Holiday Period, reaping significant benefits.

Note: These figures reflect initial trends, and actual numbers may slightly vary. Preliminary assessments will be finalized by 11 PM.
