There's often considerable attention given to a select few star kids receiving major opportunities in Bollywood, with Karan Johar frequently at the forefront of discussions.

Kangana Ranaut once criticized Karan Johar, branding him as the primary supporter of nepotism in Bollywood. Despite defending himself against such claims over time, Karan's persistent preference for offering opportunities to star kids has failed to fully convince his detractors that merit is his sole criterion. However, Karan Johar maintains his stance, refuting the notion of nepotism in Bollywood and arguing that critics exaggerate the influence of a few star kids despite their minimal representation.

During a recent Forbes event, Karan Johar tackled the nepotism discourse by emphasizing the substantial presence of non-industry individuals on film sets. He underscored that the spotlight on star kids fails to acknowledge the multitude of people unrelated to the film industry who make significant contributions to the field.

He remarked, "If you observe a film set, statistically speaking, out of 500 individuals, approximately 490 are completely unrelated to the industry. They have no ties to it whatsoever. Only about ten are, and yet there's so much fuss made about them. What about the remaining 490?"

Karan Johar highlighted that a significant portion of his office's workforce, managing multiple concurrent projects, comprises individuals with no ties to the film industry. He queried the disproportionate focus on star kids, given the substantial number of talented individuals from non-film backgrounds who contribute significantly to the world of cinema.

While it's true that talented actors such as Alia Bhatt have risen to fame as star kids, Karan Johar needs to acknowledge the existence of nepotism in Bollywood. Although star kids aren't accountable for their family backgrounds, they often enjoy easier access to opportunities and are more likely to land desirable roles early in their careers, unlike struggling outsiders who encounter numerous obstacles. It's crucial to recognize the inherent advantages enjoyed by star kids as they navigate the industry, even if they must continuously demonstrate their worth, as demonstrated by Alia Bhatt's ongoing accomplishments.
Speaking about Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar revealed her as his favorite among the actors he had launched, such as Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. In his typical humorous manner, Karan amusingly deliberated over his options before ultimately choosing Alia Bhatt as his "safer" pick, suggesting that selecting a favorite among the actors he had launched might not be entirely diplomatic.
